We are a friendly, fun loving family club that takes a pride in developing paddlers’ skills. We paddle on a number of rivers throughout the region and beyond.
Whether you want paddle kayaks or Canadian canoes, take on the challenge of white water, surf, the open sea or just enjoy a quiet paddle down one of our beautiful rivers we will have something for you.
The club draws paddlers from a wide area around Bristol and welcomes all ages and abilities. We encourage beginners to take up the sport, develop their confidence and learn new skills. For more experienced paddlers we offer the opportunity to develop your skills or have fun on the water with other paddlers. We have an active coaching programme that aims to help paddlers develop the skills they need to go paddling in a safe and enjoyable way.
With around 150 members, a great selection orgainsed of trips and courses and a large fleet of canoes and kayaks we are able to help beginners get started in this fantastic sport and more experienced paddlers try something new.
During the summer we hold training sessions at Saltford Shallows that can lead to BCU 1* and 2* qualifications. We also have pool sessions throughout the year at Yate Leisure Centre. More information on these and more can be found in the "Paddling" menu above.
If you can’t find the information you’re looking for on this website, would just like to speak to a human being, or would like to give us some feedback please contact us.
Keep an eye on the calendar this winter as we've started a set of Saturday paddles usually the first Saturday of every month
The idea is to:
Come along and enjoy a paddle.
There are two groups of courses starting either the 3rd or 10th of May (depending on whether they are 5 or 7 week courses .. see plan)
(click read-more to see the course plans and dates)
Training Weekends are a great way of developing skills further, learning new skills and enjoying paddling in some beautiful countryside.
We offer two weekends a year:
This fun weekend takes part in late June each year and is based at the Biblin's bunkhouse and campsite in the Forest of Dean. Paddling on the River Wye, there are usually courses for beginners and intermediate level paddlers in canoes and kayaks. A friendly and sociable weekend, all meals are provided in the cost and we can supply all the paddling equipment you will need too.
Paddling the Rivers Usk and Wye, this weekend offers the opportunity to develop whitewater paddling skills and achieve a whitewater qualification. A great weekend to build your confidence on Grade 2 and 3 rivers. Staying in the Cantref Bunkhouses near Brecon, all meals are included in the cost. Equipment is available for hire. This weekend usually takes place in early November.
